The History of Create-A-Book

In 1980, John Hefty, an entrepreneur and programmer, started Create-A-Book Inc. when he  invented a method to make personalized books on a PC and to bind them in under five minutes.

Create-A-Book has been encouraging children to read since the early 1980's. The Create-A-Book stories are cute, interesting, and teach a life concept such as a person doesn' t have to be big to be important or practice and hard work help us prepare for life's opportunties. Create-A-Books have colorful illustrations, a sturdy, washable, hardbound cover, and are reasonably priced.

Each story is personalized with your child's name as the main character, the name of your child's hometown, friends, and family members are included throughout the entire story. In addition, a dedication page displays your child's name, your name as the one who is giving the book, and a personalized warm greeting such as "Hugs & Kisses," "Happy 3rd Birthday," or "Merry Christmas to My Grandchild," and the date the book was given to the child.

A parent, grandparent, or friend can read the personalized book to a small child. As the child develops reading skills, he or she can read his or her personalized book to himself or herself.

We have been really surprised at the large number of young adults who have stopped at our booth at malls and craft shows, pointed to one of the books in our display and said, "I have that book. My grandmother gave it to me."
